MSP investigating after man calls 911 to report being shot while camping

SIDNEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police are investigating a suspicious shooting after a man was shot while he was camping in Montcalm County.

A man called 911 around 7 a.m. Tuesday to report he had been shot while camping in the area of Colby Road and M-66 in Sidney Township, near Stanton.

Emergency crews arrived and found a 45-year-old Belding man with an injury to his head. He was taken to the hospital where bullet fragments were found in his head.

The man’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, and he has since been released from the hospital.

Authorities are investigating the shooting and ask anyone who has information on what happened or was hunting in the area to call Michigan State Police Lakeview Post at 989-352-8444.
