FAIRPLAIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two people were killed in a crash Thursday morning in Montcalm County.
Michigan State Police troopers were called around 6:42 a.m. to the area of Brown and Fenwick roads in Montcalm County on a report of a vehicle leaving the road and hitting a tree.
When troopers arrived, they found two bodies inside the vehicle, which was heavily damaged in the crash. Snow had accumulated on the vehicle, which investigators believe means that the crash had happened early in the morning.
The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Mitchell Fitzgerald of Orleans and 35-year-old Daniel Bunce of Sheridan.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
