GREEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One woman is dead after crossing the center line and hitting a pickup truck head-on.
According to the Mecosta County Sheriff's Department Shannon Lucas, 33, was driving south on Northland Drive just south of 22 Mile Road with a child in the back seat when the car drove into the northbound lane. The car was halfway into the oncoming lane when it collided with the truck driven by Andrew Hawley, 46, of Big Rapids.
Lucas needed to be extracted from the vehicle by Big Rapids Public Safety - Fire Division before first responders could treat her injuries. The Paris woman was taken to Spectrum - Big Rapids, where she passed away.
The child was taken to Spectrum Health - Reed City to check for possible injuries while Hawley, was treated for minor injuries at Spectrum - Big Rapids and already released.
