AETNA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police were informed that a Newaygo man, 28, was high on methamphetamines in Mecosta County this morning, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
We’re told police made contact with the man when he entered his pickup truck and made an attempt to flee.
Authorities say they pulled the man out of the vehicle and arrested him after he threatened to harm himself.
The man has been identified as Al Daniel Thompson of Newaygo. Police say he has been charged with possession of meth, operating while under the influence, bond release violation and felonious assault against a police officer.
We’re told Thompson is being held at the Mecosta County Jail on a $100,000 surety bond.
