Man suffers injuries after crashing car in Mecosta County

AUSTIN TWP., Mich. — Sunday afternoon, a man injured himself after crashing a car that is believed to stolen in Mecosta County.

Just after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office tried to conduct a traffic stop on 120th Avenue near 11 mile road in Austin Twp.

The driver who the deputies approached in the stop, a 33-year-old man, fled from deputies onto a nearby seasonal area before losing control and crashing the vehicle.

The man suffered non-life threatening in the crash and was sent Grand Rapids Hospital treatment.

The vehicle driven by this man had previously been reported stolen.

Several charges will be sought against the suspect in relation to the incident, as this remains an active investigation.
