WIXOM, Mich. — A Detroit-area man is being charged in connection to the violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Michael Foy of Wixom was arrested by FBI Detroit on Thursday and is scheduled to appear in court later in the day.

Court documents accuse Foy of hitting an officer with a hockey stick.

He faces charges of:

  • Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority
  • Obstruction of law enforcement
  • Forcibly assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, intimidating or interfering with an officer of the United States
  • Aiding and abetting
  • Obstructing, influencing or impeding an official proceeding of Congress

The FBI received a tip Jan. 10, including a photo of a man carrying a hockey stick, and they confirmed he was at the Capitol during the riot.
