EATON RAPIDS, Mich. — Michael David McKerchie was arrested after escaping Ingham County jail on November 13th, and it was all caught on camera.
At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, an anonymous tipster called 911 to report that McKerchie was seen driving away from a convenience store in a black pick-up.
An Eaton Rapids Officer soon found the vehicle and tried to stop it, which led to a short chase where McKerchie crashed his pick-up into a cemetery and ran off on foot. He then stole a pickup truck, but didn't get far. Deputies say they managed to stop the vehicle and arrest McKerchie shortly after.
McKerchie was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. He's now going to face even more charges in Eaton County on top of those he already faces in Ingham County.
Eaton Rapids Police Department, Easton County Sheriff's Office, and Michigan State Police 1st District Fugitive Team all assisted Ingham County Sheriff's Office with the arrest.
