States across the country are experiencing massive outages due to the winter storm. A third of customers in eastern Kentucky are without power after being hit with multiple rounds of severe weather.

Now DTE Energy and Consumers Energy are stepping in to help by sending crews from Michigan to help restore power.

About 60 DTE workers, including mechanics, logistical support, supervisors, and managers are headed to Ashland, Kentucky on Feb. 17.

Additionally, about 150 DTE contractors are being dispatched to West Virginia and Virginia to help with restoration efforts.

Consumers Energy announced Wednesday morning that About 15 Consumers crews added to equipment from 20 of their service centers are being sent south, mainly to North Carolina, said Guy Packard, Consumers VP of electric operations.

Consumers has released an additional 15 contractor crews to go to the Richmond, Va., area.
