(WXYZ) — Detroit City Distillery says its limited-edition Pączki Day Vodka sold out in less than a half-hour.

The Detroit-based distillery, known for its bourbon and whiskeys, debuted the vodka in 2020 with major success and hundreds of people lining up hours before release to get some.

The Polish potato vodka is distilled with dozens of raspberry pączki from the historic New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck.

Sales happened online at 9 a.m. on Monday and they were sold out in 22 minutes.

There are still stores in metro Detroit selling the vodka. You can view a list here.

DCD began experimenting with the vodka in 2017 when Distiller Steve Orzechowski bought 12-dozen pączki from New Palace Bakery to try it out.

“I made Pączki Day Vodka because I wanted to capture the essence of the Hamtramck Pączki Day party in a bottle. I thought it’d be a fun way to honor my Polish heritage and create a small-batch
spirit we shared with our closest friends and family,” Orzechowski said. “But, as more and more people tried it and loved it, and the requests came pouring in, we realized we’d created something very unique. It’s a real honor to create something that the community has made part of the celebration and the comradery of the day.”

This year, Detroit City Distillery is getting nearly 1,300 glazed raspberry pączki which are then soaked for 24 hours in vodka in a 500-gallon copper pot still inside Detroit City Distillery's Whiskey Factory.

The Distillery has also come up with two different cocktails that people can make when it comes to the vodka.
