LANSING, Mich. — State Attorney General Dana Nessel is joining forces with Polaris and Uber in an effort to raise awareness for human trafficking.

Uber will be equipping drivers and customers in the state with knowledge on how to recognize human trafficking within their communities and how to help those who may be victims, according to the attorney general’s office.

They say Polaris runs the National Human Trafficking Hotline, which states there have been at least 4,000 Michigan victims identified since 2007.

“Human trafficking is a violation of human rights impacting millions around the world,” says Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “We each play a role in combatting this issue and it starts with equipping law enforcement, community leaders and the general public, as well, with resources and knowledge to identify and address human trafficking.”
