Victim and suspect identified in deadly Montcalm Co. hit-and-run crash

EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 50-year-old woman has been pronounced dead after the car she was in was hit at 7:17 p.m. Saturday night.

The crash happened on Stanton Rd. near Eggleston Auto, when a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup crashed into the back of a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu.

The woman, identified as 50-year-old Patricia Ann Buskirk from Edmore, was the passenger of the Chevrolet and was taken to Sheridan Community Hospital where she died of her injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the Chevy was treated on scene for minor injuries.

The suspect accused in this crash was arrested Sunday afternoon. He is being held at the Montcalm County Jail pending arraignment.

Michigan State Police said in a press release that alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in this crash.
