ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two women have been hospitalized with serious injuries after one rear-ended the other at a high rate of speed.

At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, deputies responded to the crash that happened on Chicago Drive near 64th Avenue, in the area of Lubbers Brothers Farm and DCM Classics.

According to authorities, a 20-year-old Holland woman was speeding in a dark blue Volkswagon Passat, heading west on Chicago Drive. She then rear-ended a red Toyota Rav-4, which was driven by a 63-year-old Saugatuck woman. Both women have been taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies say the 20-year-old was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol appears to be a contributing factor.

The crash is still under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
