Deputies investigating alleged sexual assault at off-campus party near GVSU

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a sexual assault at an off-campus party early Sunday morning.

At 3:30 a.m. Sunday, deputies received a report of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in Allendale Township. Upon arriving at the scene, the victim told them that she had been attending a party at an off-campus apartment complex near Grand Valley State University and had been sexually assaulted by an unknown male who was also attending the party.

Deputies are not releasing the victim’s name.

There is no description of the suspect.

At 7:44 a.m. Sunday, GVSU sent out the following alert to all students and faculty members:

"The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning February 16, 2020. The victim/survivor is a student who reported attending a party, off campus, at a residence in Enclave Apartments, 4926 Becker Dr. in Allendale Township, when an unknown man at the party pulled the victim/survivor into a bedroom and committed rape.
