HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — Deputies with the Ottawa County sheriff are currently on scene investigating after a break-in at a jewelry store overnight.

It happened at Jensen Jewelers early Wednesday morning, located at 3473 Kelly Street in Hudsonville.

The business owner, Dan Jensen, tells FOX 17 he received a call this morning alerting him to the break-in but he thought it was a false alarm.

He arrived to find the front door smashed and some items missing but says it could have been worse.

"We were pretty thankful because all they did is smash the front door smash a case, we pretty much keep everything locked up in the safe. So the real valuables are in the safe," Jensen said.

"The police got here very quickly so it was as minimal as it could be for such an event so we're just thankful, you know, everybody's okay and it wasn't a major loss," he said.

The owner says he does have surveillance video of the incident and it appears a white man was the one who broke in.

Deputies are still investigating.
