WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A driver is in the hospital after knocking down a power pole in Ottawa Co. around 1:02 a.m. Saturday morning.

The 29-year-old Conklin area man was heading north on 8th Ave. when he hit a driveway and flipped his 2017 Subaru, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

After hitting the power pole, it broke into several pieces and rained down on the roof and front yard of 15540 8th Ave.

The driver climbed out of the car before rescue crews arrived, and was taken to a nearby hospital for possible internal injuries.

Consumer's Energy de-energized the power lines and say that the power will stay out until crews have finished cleaning up and replacing the broken power pole.

The crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
