Allendale crash leaves multiple people injured

ALLENDALE, Mich. — An accident in Allendale at the intersection of 48th Aveune and Pierce Street left multiple people injured, with one driver being sent to the hospital.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Allendale Fire and Life EMS responded to the intersection for a two-car crash with injuries, which was blocking all of South Bound 48th ave.

Investigation on scene showed that a 22-year-old Mt. Pleasant resident, driving a 2005 Toyota, made a prohibited left turn from North Bound 48th Ave onto West Bound Pierce.

Upon making the prohibited turn, the Mt. Pleasant resident was struck by a South Bound 2007 Ford Edge being, driven by a 30-year-old Jenison resident.

The intersection was closed for a period of time for clean up.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Zeeland Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by Life EMS, and was also cited for Failing to Yield the Right of Way.

The occupants of the Ford Edge suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
