Ottawa County man sentenced for wife's 2018 murder

PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP — A man who tried to commit suicide in 2018 after killing his wife will spend decades in prison.

Michael McNeal, 56, faced 2nd degree murder and was sentenced to 45-75 years behind bars.

The murder happened back on July 24, 2018 at the couple's home in the 15000 block of Barry Street in Port Sheldon Township. Sherrilee McNeal was shot to death that morning before her husband shot himself in the face.

Michael McNeal will finish out his 2 year felony firearms conviction before serving out the murder conviction.
