MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Muskegon Police Department is announcing a change to the city’s winter parking ban.
The change, made by the Muskegon City Commission, allows motorists to park downtown at all hours except those between midnight and 7 a.m., according to police. They say parking is permitted on even dates along even-numbered street addresses and vice-versa.
“The increasing number of downtown residents and overall downtown activity of business and entertainment has the city needing to change its parking restrictions this winter to allow for overnight parking on the streets,” says Jeff Lewis, director of Muskegon Public Safety. “The whole goal here is not for enforcement but to have compliance in order to keep our streets cleared.”
Police say citywide parking restrictions are in effect through March 1, adding that odd-even parking rules will continue to apply.
