LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man on a motorcycle has died in a crash on a freeway.
At about 1 a.m. on Sunday, troopers were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on westbound I-94 in Lake Township, according to the Michigan State Police's Niles Post today.
A 26-year-old man from Covert in the car rear-ended a 33-year-old man from Chicago on the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist died from serious injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Lakeland Hospital for observation and released.
MSP said investigations at the scene concluded alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
The driver of the car was lodged at Berrien County jail and charged with operating while intoxicated causing death.
His name is being withheld pending his arraignment. The incident remains under investigation.
