MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man has died today after a shooting at a hotel.

Police were dispatched to the Clarion Inn & Suites in Muskegon Heights at around 11:30 a.m. today, according Joseph Thomas, chief of the Muskegon Heights Police Department, this afternoon.

They found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds in a room on the hotel's second floor.

He was in his late teens or early 20s.

A small-caliber firearm was used to shoot the man in the chest and face, according to Thomas. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from the wounds.

The Muskegon Heights Police Department is investigating the shooting and working on strong leads. Witnesses are cooperating with the police.

Thomas described the shooting as disappointing, as it took place in what he called one of the city's comeback areas.
