LINCOLN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A motorcycle rider died and the driver of a car was arrested in a hit-and-run crash in which police believe alcohol was a factor.

The crash took place around 9:33 p.m. Monday in Lincoln Township south of St. Joseph.

Both vehicles were on Glenlord Road, the motorcycle westbound and the car eastbound, when the driver of the car turned onto Michelle Drive, in front of the motorcycle.

The rider, 40, was dead at the scene when officers with the Lincoln Township Police Department arrived. The driver of the car, 24, had left the scene, but police found him and his vehicle two blocks away.

Witnesses helped identify the hit-and-run car.

The identities of the rider and the driver have not been released.
