WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One man is dead and another injured after speed and alcohol led to a rollover crash sometime Sunday morning, October 25.
Deputies say this happened in the area of 129th Avenue and 12th Street, near the US-131 exit in Wayland Township.
Investigation showed that the vehicle ran a stop sign, hit a guardrail, and went airborne before tumbling in a field. Two men in their mid-20s were ejected during the rollover. Authorities performed life-saving treatment and managed to get the passenger to a hospital, but the driver died at the scene. The passenger however is expected to be okay.
Authorities believe that speed and alcohol were contributing factors to this crash, which is being actively investigated by the Allegan County Sheriff's Office.
The name of the man who died is currently withheld, but it is believed that both men are from the Grand Rapids area.
