ALLEGAN, Mich. — Allegan County will soon be offering free COVID-19 tests at upcoming community testing events, according to the Allegan County Health Department.

We’re told tests will be available to everyone regardless of age and symptoms; however, people under 18 will require consent from a parent or guardian.

“With the B.1.1.7 variant in Michigan, there is a chance of increased transmission—infecting more people with less exposure,” says Richard Tooker, Allegan County medical director. “Testing continues to be the best way to identify cases faster so we can quickly isolate and quarantine the exposed, which greatly reduces the chain of transmission.”

Community testing events are scheduled to take place at the Allegan County Transportation Building on Feb. 20, March 6 and March 20 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
