CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A crash involving two semis on Interstate 196 on Friday afternoon led to multiple injuries for one of the drivers.
The crash occurred about 5:15 p.m. in the northbound lane between the North Shore and 109th Avenue exits in Casco Township, South Haven Area Emergency Services said.
A semi with a trailer was parked on the shoulder of the highway where a trailer tire was being repaired.
A semi tractor without a trailer struck the parked vehicle, causing the tractor to disintegrate.
The driver of the semi tractor was rushed to Holland Hospital with multiple injuries and the operator of the tire repair company was taken to Bronson-South Haven Hospital.
Northbound Interstate 196 was closed at the Phoenix Road exit.
Michigan State Police is investigating the crash.
