ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — One person is dead after a crash in Allegan County on Friday morning.

The crash happened about 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of 141st Avenue and 56th Street in Fillmore Township, Allegan County police said.

The driver of a silver Jeep, Diego Garcia-Palencia, 33, was traveling westbound on 141st Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign at the Lincoln Avenue and 56th Street intersection, according to police.

A second vehicle, a white 2014 GMC Sierra pickup, was traveling northbound on 56th Street – with the right of way – and collided with the Jeep.

Palencia, who was from Kalamazoo, died in the crash.

The driver of the pickup, Nathan Patmos, 40 and from Hamilton, was transported to Holland Hospital with survivable injuries.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The investigation continues.
