OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities say to use extreme caution as several crashes were reported along US-131 in Kalamazoo County on Wednesday morning.
It happened about 5:45 a.m. at Stadium Drive in Oshtemo Township near Kalamazoo, according to Michigan State Police.
The northbound lanes were completely shutdown at the 37 Mile Marker and it was down to one lane southbound.
Drivers were being ramped off at Stadium Drive.
Troopers' preliminary investigation showed a Chevy pickup was southbound on US-131 when the driver lost control, crossed the line, hit and flipped over a guardrail before entering the northbound lanes.
A Dodge SUV traveling northbound on US-131 then hit the pickup.
The driver of the pickup, a 42-year-old Grand Rapids man, was trapped inside the car and was injured.
Meanwhile, the SUV had two people inside, one of whom was injured.
They were taken to a local hospital with injuries that authorities said weren't life-threatening.
Troopers handled five more crashes in the same area around the same time.
Roads were icy when the crashes happened.
