KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Department of Pubic Safety (KDPS) arrested a 17-year-old this morning who was the suspect in a shots fired call. KDPS arrested the 17-year-old on multiple charges, including resisting and obstructing arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon.
At approximately 11:20 A.M., officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Operations Division responded to a report of a subject shooting at another subject inside a vehicle.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the shooting scene and evidence from the shots fired, with 911 callers assisting on suspect description and his last known direction of travel.
While canvassing the area, officers located and attempted to contact the suspect. The suspect ran from officers and into a residence in the 1100 block Bridge St. Moments later, the suspect exited the residence and was arrested without incident.
Officers searched the residence and located the suspected firearm, an additional firearm and suspected cocaine.
The suspect, a 17-year old Kalamazoo resident, was lodged at Kalamazoo County Jail on numerous charges including Resisting and Obstructing Arrest, Felony Firearms, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
