KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A serious crash has shut down northbound Portage Road starting between Cork Street and Lovers Lane on Thursday afternoon.
It happened about 9:50 a.m. in the 2900 block of Portage Road, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Four vehicles were involved and one person was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is at the scene and the area will be closed while officers investigate.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid the area.
