KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Officers of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) continue to investigate shots fired at the intersection of S Burdick and Maple, where kids were nearby selling candy.
While no one was injured in the shooting, a woman and three children were across the street selling candy near the sidewalk when the incident occurred.
The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m., as several witnesses said two suspects had fired handguns at a house near the intersection.
After firing the shots, the suspects left in two separate vehicles.
Officers flooded the area in search of the vehicles, but they have yet to be found.
The house believed to be the target of today's shooting has already been struck by gunfire less than one month ago.
Neither of the suspects have been identified, and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
The suspect vehicles were described by witnesses as a Silver Chrysler 300 and a red Dodge Charger with black racing stripes on the hood.
