KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo Public Schools is moving its graduation ceremonies scheduled for Aug. 4-6 outdoors because of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s recent executive order limiting indoor gatherings to 10 people, the district announced Friday.

The ceremonies will still be in-person for Loy Norrix, Kalamazoo Central and Phoenix high schools, as well as the Kalamazoo Innovative Learning Program. However, they will be moved outdoors to these locations:

  • Phoenix High School and the Kalamazoo Innovative Learning Program will now hold graduation at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at Loy Norrix High School’s soccer field at 606 E. Kilgore Road.
  • Loy Norrix’s graduation will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 5 at the school’s soccer field.
  • Kalamazoo Central High School will have its ceremony at 6 p.m. Aug. 6 on the football field at 2432 N. Drake Rd.

Graduating seniors and up to five guests will arrive at staggered, designated times, and masks will be required, the district said.
The ceremonies will be livestreamed on the district’s YouTube channel.

Ceremonies will be held rain or shine.
