Kalamazoo Public Safety officers at scene of house fire for more than 1 hour

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers were on the scene of a house fire for more than an hour Sunday night.

It happened about 10:20 p.m. in the 200 block of E. Clay, a news release said Monday.

When officers arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the home.

They entered the home and found the fire at the back of the house on the first floor.

Public Safety officers were able to bring the fire under control within 25 minutes and were on scene for more than an hour.

The occupants were not home during the fire.

The cause of the fire isn’t known yet and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
