KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Children’s Nature Playscape in Bronson Park in Kalamazoo has the permits needed to start construction, according to a news release Friday.

The 130-square-foot green space will be for children age 10 and under of all abilities.

It’ll also serve the 18 daycares and preschools within 10 blocks.

“Our hope is to provide a safe and accessible space that serves young children of all abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds with a place to play and explore — a space that allows them to interact freely and creatively with the natural world,” said Jody Brylinsky, Children’s Nature Playscape on Bronson Park board chair.

The First Baptist Church, Kalamazoo Nature Center and Western Michigan University contributed to the project.

Demolition of the First Reformed Church of Kalamazoo – where the playscape will be – starts next week.
