KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Officers responded to 400 Dillingham Lane at 10:55 p.m. on Friday night for a report of an armed robbery.

The victim was approached by a man who pointed a gun at her head and demanded that she hand over her purse and cell phone.

After he got away with her property, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers arrived and deployed K-9 Nero to track the suspect.

Nero tracked the suspect to an apartment on Carrington Court, where they were found hiding inside a storage closet in the common area with both the victim's purse and the gun he used in the robbery.

The suspect, a 21-year-old man from Kalamazoo, is being lodged at Kalamazoo County Jail for multiple charges, and it was also discovered that he is a parole absconder.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety has not yet released the suspect's identity.
