KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo County Treasurer Mary Balkema is warning that fake $100 bills are circulating in the community.
She says that one of these counterfeit bills were used to pay someone's property taxes on Friday morning.
The thieves had reportedly washed $10 bills printed the $100 bills over them, but the treasury department noticed that both the watermarked president did not match and the security thread was misprinted.
If you think that you have been given a counterfeit bill, the Kalamazoo County Treasurers advise that you call your local police department.
