SPRINGFIELD, Mich. — A student is behind bars after deputies say he was found to have a handgun in his car which was parked in the school parking lot.
It happened Monday at Calhoun Community High School, 765 Upton Avenue in Springfield.
Information was obtained that a 19-year-old student had a handgun in his car.
When deputies searched the car, they found a loaded handgun. The student was arrested and taken to jail.
He faces a charge of carrying a concealed weapons and a violation of the weapon free school zone statute.
We're told school was already dismissed for the day and there was no reason to believe anyone was in imminent danger.
