BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A Battle Creek man died when the vehicle he was driving hit a tree Sunday morning on Parkway Drive.
At 7:22 a.m. Sunday, the Battle Creek Police Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on Parkway between Wood and Oneida streets. The investigation showed that the vehicle had been eastbound on Parkway when it crossed over to the north side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as a 28-year-old Battle Creek man and was the only occupant.
The vehicle was heavily damaged and the tree was uprooted.
Officers determined that the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
