Calhoun County woman arrested after hit-and-run

MARENGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 25-year-old woman was taken into custody today after hitting a 34-year-old man and taking off.

Just before Noon on Saturday, deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian versus vehicle in Marengo Township.

A witness advised that the male pedestrian was observed being intentionally struck by a vehicle on 22-½ Mile Rd at Michigan Ave. The suspect vehicle was last observed traveling west on Michigan Ave.

No one was located in the area, however the male victim later called from Oaklawn Hospital, where he had transported himself for non-life threatening injuries.

The male victim from Albion identified the driver of the vehicle as a 25 year old female from Marengo Township.

The female was located at her residence and taken into custody without incident.

Based on statements from the victim and a witness, the female was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for assault with intent to murder.
