BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The City of Battle Creek had two water main breaks over the weekend.
Battle Creek just ended a two-day system-wide boil water advisory last week after a break near the intersection of McCamly Street and Dickman Road.
The most recent breaks happened on Goguac Street between 23rd and 24th streets and at the intersection of Morgan and Miller avenues. Crews repaired the breaks and another boil water advisory wasn’t necessary.
The city says Michigan’s fluctuating temperatures during winter create perfect conditions for main breaks because the earth is moving more, which can move the pipes.
Battle Creek has a management plan that helps the city score the condition of its infrastructure, allowing it to make improvements where necessary. The city says it is working to release more information on that plan.
