KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A person is dead after a fire on S. Westnedge around 1:19 a.m. Saturday morning.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Officers arrived to find fire on the second floor.
When they entered the building, they found a resident in a room full of smoke and fire.
While the victim was helped outside, they did not survive.
Officers determined that the fire started on the second floor and spread to the attic.
It took roughly 45 minutes to bring it under control.
That victim's name is being withheld for the time being.
