ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Jared Scholten is in custody after a person was shot Sunday morning.
At 6:28 a.m. Sunday, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at Algoma Estates Manufactured Housing on Mercury Drive NE in Algoma Township. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found Anthony White, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound and transported that person to an area hospital.
Deputies said there were no immediate safety concerns to the community, and that they have the shooting suspect, Jared Scholten, in custody. Scholten has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearm.
A neighbor told a FOX 17 crew at the scene that four people were taken into custody from a nearby car on Summit Avenue NE near 13 Mile Road NE.
Scholten’s bond is set at $500,000 cash/surety.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.
