WYOMING, Mich. — It's happening later than expected, but big plans are moving forward for a park in Wyoming
Monday night, the Wyoming City Council awarded a bid for the development at Jackson Park, which includes construction of a splash pad, playground and bathroom.
The $1.3 million dollar project was approved more than a decade ago and was supposed to begin in 2015 but mother nature had different plans.
"We had two tornadoes that have come through here, one that did some significant damage to Ideal Park, which is another key park we have in our park system, so we had to kind of shift some things around to do construction there, and just keep that maintained for right now," said Wyoming Parks and Recreation Supervisor Krashawn Martin.
Construction is expected to begin this spring with a grand opening planned for the summer of 2021. Ideal Park is expected to re-open this summer.
