GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office is asking businesses, organizations and people to donate any new and unused personal protective equipment to protect first responders.
The county is looking for items like disposable examination gloves, isolation gowns or single-use coveralls. Authorities are also searching for NIOSH-approved particulate respirators, face masks or eye protection.
The sheriff's office says the donations will help maintain the current level of supplies to protect first responders.
Donations can be delivered to the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services at 1632 Linden Ave. in Grand Rapids. They will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
To maintain social distancing, a Salvation Army volunteer will remove items from the trunks of people dropping them off.
