KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Kent County sheriffs are reminding residents to lock their cars when not in use.

Sgt. Joy Matthews with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office tells us there were 21 larcenies involving vehicles between Dec. 27, 2020 and Jan. 6, 2021 across Grand Rapids Township, Cascade Township and Ada Township, adding that Cascade accounted for 17 of those larcenies.

We’re told there has been one report of larceny in Ada Township since the start of the year and four in Cascade Township in that same time frame.

Matthews says only one vehicle was locked in the above instances.

Police have provided us with the attached flyers for more on how residents can protect themselves from becoming victims of theft.
