WYOMING, Mich. — Two people were injured after being shot at the Walmart on 54th Street just east of U.S. 131 on Sunday. One victim is a man, and the other is a woman. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Lt. Andrew Koeller, the shooting occurred in the checkout area at about 6 p.m. When police arrived at the store, they found the injured woman. She was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital. While police investigated the shooting, the male victim arrived at a hospital.

A preliminary investigation indicated that there was some type of altercation between the male victim and two other men. During the course of the fight, one of the two other men fired at least 10 shots, hitting the victims.

At this time, police believe that the woman was an innocent bystander, and had nothing to do with the fight.

Police are working to get surveillance video footage of the suspects.

"It's scary, it's frightening, but I want the public to know that all our resources are in and working on this," said Lt. Koeller. "Our detective bureau, our forensic unit, our command staff are in, working on this, and additional we would encourage anybody who say anything, who was in the store, who witnessed this to come forward."
