GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park has canceled the 2020 Fifth Third Bank Summer Concerts at Meijer Gardens concert series due to COVID-19.
They say that while this is disappointing, the safety of guests, volunteers, staff, and touring crews remains top priority.
If conditions improve later this summer, they plan to somehow incorporate performers as a part of a modified "Tuesday Evening Music Club" series.
The overall decision did not come lightly, according to President and CEO David Hooker.
He says they scrutinized recent public health declarations and government orders along with multiple conversations with their concert promoter before making the call.
Meijer Gardens plans to resume the annual summer concerts in 2021.
