LOWELL, Mich. — The Barn for Equine learning featured them in a special Saturday event.

Every Saturday, they open their barn in Lowell for everyone who wants to get involved or learn more about the organization.

Their mission is to connect horses with children and adults to develop character and challenge them through their experience.

On Saturday, they focused on mini-horses to get more people excited about what they do. The goal of the fundraiser was to raise money for its programs after losing everything in a fire three years ago.

"This is a free service for people to come out, check us out and see what we do," said Kat Heggen, director for the Barn for Equine Learning. "Our barn is a therapy-based barn, so we do therapy services, and in our therapy sessions we utilize the horses."

If you're interested in learning more, the barn is open every Saturday.
