ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An 18-year-old Comstock Park man is dead after a crash Saturday night.

It happened about 11:50 p.m. on Baumhoff Avenue NW near 4 Mile Road NW in Alpine Township, a news release said Monday.

The car appears to have been going southbound on Baumhoff Avenue NW when the driver lost control and the car went off the road and rolled, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver, Cable Alexander Butkis, died at the scene.

A 17-year-old Grand Rapids man was a passenger and was transported to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the cause of the crash, but alcohol and speed may have been a factor.
