GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The area surrounding the main entrance to Van Andel Arena will receive $2.1 million in renovations this spring.
Funding for the project was approved Wednesday morning by the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority. The plaza outside the main entrance to the arena will be demolished and replaced with a new area featuring seating and landscaping.
Officials said there will be a snow-melt system, improved lighting and other things to make the plaza more inviting and safer.
The project is expected to be complete in the fall.
