GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police say one person was struck and killed outside a home by a driver in Grand Rapids.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Kalamazoo Avenue and Noble Street SE.

Officials with the Grand Rapids Police Department say the homeowner was outside their home when a driver lost control, hitting one of the pedestrians before crashing into two houses.

The pedestrian, a 47-year-old Grand Rapids woman, was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene of the crash.

After being treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, the driver was arrested for charges related to this crash.

Police say it's too early to determine if speed, alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
