GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police have released a composite image of a sexual assault suspect and hope he can be identified.

At about 9:15 a.m. on July 20, a woman walked into her apartment when a man held a knife to her throat, sexually assaulted her, and left. It’s not known how the suspect got into the apartment, which is in the 700 block of Butterworth Street SW in Grand Rapids.

In a release, GRPD describes the suspect as black, in his 30s or 40s, 6 feet tall, about 230 pounds, with little or no facial hair and no noticeable scars, tattoos, or piercings. He was wearing a red t-shirt with red lettering, black basketball shorts, and black shoes. He wore a flat brim hat with an orange or red logo, possible similar to the LA Lakers logo.

Anyone with information or who recognizes the man in the image, should contact GRPD Detective Snyder at 616-345-3422 or by email at ksnyder@grcity.us, or leave information anonymously with Silent Observer online or by phone at 616-774-2345.
